Random Hex Generator
Generate cryptographically secure random hex strings. Perfect for tokens, API secrets, encryption keys, and color codes. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is sent to any server.
All values generated using crypto.getRandomValues() — cryptographically secure, runs entirely in your browser.
What is a hex string?
A hexadecimal (hex) string represents binary data using the digits 0–9 and letters a–f. Each hex character encodes exactly 4 bits, so a 32-character hex string represents 16 bytes (128 bits) of data. Hex strings are widely used in cryptography, networking, and software development as a compact, human-readable way to represent binary values.
Common uses for random hex strings
- API secrets and tokens — 32 or 64 hex chars (16–32 bytes) provide strong entropy
- Encryption keys — AES-128 uses 32 hex chars, AES-256 uses 64
- Session IDs — 16+ bytes ensures session tokens are unguessable
- CSRF tokens — 32 hex chars is the common standard
- Color codes — 6 hex chars represent an RGB color (e.g. #a3f2c1)
- Database record IDs — random hex IDs prevent enumeration attacks
How secure is this generator?
This tool uses the Web Crypto API's crypto.getRandomValues() function, which is a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator (CSPRNG). It is the same source of randomness used in professional security tools. All generation happens entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server.
